What's for Dinner

Baked Salmon with

Brown Rice Casserole

1 cup (raw) white rice

1 can sliced mushrooms

canned mushroom juice + water to make 1 1/3 liquid

2 tbsp onion soup mix

2 tbsp oil

2 tbsp soy sauce

Bake at 350 degrees F in a covered dish for 1 hour. Stir once half way thru.

Remembrance Day 2009

Lest We Forget

The kids & I walked over to the memorial park where all the Remembrance Day wreaths were displayed.

The kids are still a little young to explain what Remembrance Day is all about so I had them fill their buckets with pine cones while I took a few photos.

We declare this day a PAJAMA DAY!

The kids declared today to be a pajama day. They played well together all day. It was nice to have a down-lo day to rest up & enjoy my kiddos.

I've been picking up a few new pieces to fit into my fall wardrobe lately. Lots of violets & deep purples as well as grey. Loving the plaid & stripe patterns of the season. I was so happy to discover that American Eagle has re-released their ARTIST jeans....my absolute favorite fit of-all-time for jeans!

Starbucks Kids

Yes even our kids are hooked....on Starbucks hot chocolate, we'll save the coffee for Cory & I.

After any family trip, we're all excited to get home. The kids were so excited to see our neighbor's dog Oreo...it was so cute to see them give her such attention.

Mall Time

Spent our day at the mall in Minot today. A good chunk of our Christmas shopping is done (realized we had lots of handmade gifts to give this year) so we enjoyed an ice cream at the Coldstone Creamery.

Trip to Minot

We headed to Minot for the weekend to visit with family and get some Christmas shopping started. Stayed at the Holiday Inn...the first thing the kids do when we stay at a hotel is jump on the beds.

Black Eye...from Halloween night! Cory was trying to calm a fight when we were out Saturday night...his eye got in the way. Scarlett loves her Daddy's purple eye...her fave color.

Christmas Cup

I heard from a few city friends they were able to enjoy a Starbucks beverage in new Christmas cups today. I didn't want to feel left out & brewed myself a special hot chocolate to enjoy!

A controversial trip to Estevan today...hmmm, should I tell you about it? So I, being the person I am, updated my Twitter status to say 'running into Estevan for some groceries and to visit the new Obviously Chic Boutique'...thinking nothing of it, I went about my morning.

I get home and there's a comment responding to my status saying 'Wow Starr, wouldn't be posting...councillor's wife seeks for groceries in Estevan....not much support there'.

I responded back, feeling very attacked, indicating that I only picked up an item I cannot find here in Oxbow...saffron. As the day went on I was flooded with emails from others in the area saying they were just appalled by the comment, some even went on to explain their own stories about encounters with this grocery store owner. I won't go on about how politically incorrect that statement was...this post would go on forever. But I was just reminded of how living in a small town is...there will always be someone watching you and judging what you do...it was my 'Michelle Obama' moment.

My visit to Obviously Chic was lovely. I was able to meet the owner Jess, she has done an amazing job with her new store.

Our little Husky Dog hockey player...two weeks into hockey practice and Ace is loving it! He has come so far already with his skating, we're so proud of this little rookie!
