surprise celebration for the birthday week Cory & I share
my nephew Kelby gave me pinecones as a birthday gift...I thought it was so special he remembered how much I love pinecones and he came up with the idea to pick some for me all by himself...what a thoughtful 8-year-old
Nana and her Grand Puppies
had a leisurely stroll home, just the fam

Simple days like this make me feel so blessed...Life is good!

The wine was Pinot Grigio at wine club tonight, hosted by my friend Lian. The food & conversation was great. I enjoyed smelling the wines while the ladies taste tested them...amazing what you can pick up on when you rely on smell instead of taste.

The concensus voted 2008 BOLLA from Italy to be the #1 Pinot Grigio of the night. It was aromatic (fruity) & flavorful, had a bolder taste than the others and a nice finish. And only $12 a bottle...great for summer dinner parties! I think I'll be purchasing some to enjoy after baby #3 arrives this summer.

Lian served...
Spinach Salad with Mandarins,
Green Beans with Toasted Pine Nuts
Sesame Noodle Casserole
Lightly Breaded Salmon
A delicious meal!!!
Followed by Mascarpone Tarts with Saskatoon Berries...Mmmmm!
Lian is a great host...this is the second time she's wined & dined us.

Lian & Kendra

An awesome night...that lasted till 2:30 for us all. At least I won't have the hangover that usually accompanies a night of wine club.

Munsch to the Max Puppet Show

Tonight I took the kids to see the 'Munsch to the Max' Puppet Show performed by Wide Open Spaces, sponsored by the Expressway Family Centre. It was an amazing event, very well attended and the kids loved it!

They performed 6 Robert Munsch stories:
Where is Gah-Ning?
Murmel Murmel Murmel
More Pies
No Clean Clothes
Alligator Baby
Jonathan Cleaned Up and Then He Heard A Sound

It's so amazing that the EFC puts on these amazing events...what a value it has for youth & the community!

This is Tanya & her son Deon. I was invited to the Elementary School today where the Grade 1 class was celebrating Deon's 7th birthday, it was my pleasure to take photos of this occasion!

I grew up on the same block as Tanya, we shared a back alley when we were kids. Little did I know that she would grow up to be one of the strongest Mom's I'd ever have the pleasure of knowing. On a daily basis she takes care of her little man who has Batten Disease. Every time I see her, she has a smile on her face, no matter what her day brings!

You can learn more about this summer's fundraising event: Batting Away Batten Disease softball tournament in Oxbow on June 18th here. Hope to see you there!

Happy Birthday Cory!

Since Cory is not a fan of getting gifts on his birthday, I cooked him a special seafood dinner in his honor. He thought I slaved all day over this meal, but really with just a little prep, it was a snap to whip up (about an hour).
We had lobster...
Shrimp & cocktail sauce
Bruschetta on fresh bread, toasted
Mussles in a white wine sauce over whole wheat pasta
It was delish...we all scored because we got to share with the birthday boy!
It was Scarlett's first time to try mussles...she loved them.
Her brother watched nearby...as he was NOT trying any.
Made this chocolate cake for dessert...Cory loves chocolate so much he believes it should be it's own food group!
We dined well tonight...all 4.5 of us!
It was great to relax, enjoy and celebrate together!

Stampin' Up! Color Renovation

Are you excited, ready for a change...a Color Renovation?
Stampin' Up! has just announced they will be reorganizing their color collections into 40 core colors beginning with the release on July 1 of the 2010-2011 Stampin' Up! Idea Book and Catalog.
So excited about this organization overhaul...exciting new colors and the return of some of my favorite In Colors to the regular line up. For me living in a rural community, these Stampin' Up! colors are the palette I always keep on-hand since running to the local scrapbook store isn't an option for me.

Introducing the new colors: Cajun Craze (rich, rusty orange), Cherry Cobbler (relevant red), Crumb Cake (formerly kraft), Daffodil Delight (the perfect yellow), Early Espresso (deep brown & delicious), Marina Mist (not too green, not too gray shade of blue).
Some of my favorite In Colors returning are: Baja Breeze, Wild Wasabi, Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry, Pacific Pointe, Tangerine Tango, Pink Pirouette, Riding Hood Red.

Stampin' Up! Colors Headed For Retirement on July 1:
Almost Amethyst, Apricot Appeal, Ballet Blue, Barely Banana, Blush Blossom, Bordering Blue, Brilliant Blue, Brocade Blue, Cameo Coral, Close to Cocoa, Creamy Caramel, Gable Green, Glorious Green, Going Gray, Green Galore, Handsome Hunter, Lavender Lace, Lovely Lilac, Mellow Moss, Only Orange, Orchid Opulence, Pale Plum, Pink Passion, Pixie Pink, Really Rust, Ruby Red, Sage Shadow, Summer Sun, Taken with Teal, YoYo Yellow.

2010-2011 In Colors:
5 new In Colors will be introduced with the Idea Book & Catalog July 1 (you can be sure you'll see sneak peeks from me in June). The new In Colors will be available for 2 years! Starting next year, there will be a total of 10 In Colors with five rotating out and five rotating in every year.

Hot New Items:
Watch for details on new color kits, Stampin' Up! markers for all Core Colors (including former In Colors and the newest colors), expansion of colors for Stampin' Pastels and Watercolor Wonder Crayons and an awesome Color Coach tool that will make color selection better than ever!

You can keep up to date with these changes on my Stampin' Up! website. I'd be happy to hear what you think of the new colors!

We went to see the baby lambs & chicks at the Family Centre today.
The kids loved the baby lamb...love the look on Ace's face.
And Scarlett didn't leave the lamb's side the whole time, she loved that lamb.

Then the baby chicks arrived, so cute!
