'Week In The Life' Project ROCKED!

Doing my own version of Ali Edwards' 'Week In The Life' project was so rewarding! May 3rd - 9th was when I choose to give this a try and it was so much fun...our whole family joined in and played along. This process was all about capturing those little moments that occur every single day, that we often take for granted. It really slowed down my thoughts about our everyday life and allowed me to recognize things I may not have before.

The first day took a bit of getting used to, remembering the camera, figuring out what to document, using the self timer. But I was hooked on day two, taking way more photos than day one and getting right into showing what represents our daily lives.

I decided to follow Ali's templates for putting the project together. This was my first attempt at digital scrapbooking, and I have to admit, I really enjoyed it! I'm going to place these 8.5 x 11" pages (4 per day of the week) in my Project Life album when finished.

This project was so cool (still coming together, promise to share finished pages once I complete them), I think I'll attempt this twice a year. It will be so interesting to look back on the details of what a Week In The Life is like for our family throughout the years. My only regret is that I didn't start this sooner, it would have been really cool to compare a week from living in the city to now.

Week In The Life: SUNDAY

Happy Mothers Day!

This Mama had a great day today.

Started with my first-ever breakfast in bed

followed by a relaxing day with our family.

Drove down to the river to hike around,

took some photos with the kids.

Had family supper at Mom & Dads,

ended the evening with family movie night.

I felt very blessed & loved today!

Week In The Life: SATURDAY

Today was so special for our little family. We met up at this location with Calgary photographer Nathan Elson (he's originally from the Estevan area) for a photoshoot. When I heard Nate was coming to town, I booked a session with him to capture our family of four...since we will soon be a family of five. It was a great experience! I always love to hang with other photogs and it was fun to sit back and play the client for a change. The best part was NO grumbling from any of my family members...that was a nice treat! Can't wait to see the photos.

Week In The Life: FRIDAY

I love my Mommy daughter days with Scarlett (when her brother is at school). Today we baked banana chip muffins and she was eager to help out in the kitchen. That's my little chef!

Week In The Life: WEDNESDAY

Mostly a quiet cozy day at home today since Ace is not feeling well. He caught croupe in the night and I was thankfully able to get him into the doctor today...he has tonsilitis. It was nice to catch up on some laundry and play with my kiddos.

Week In The Life: TUESDAY

Today the kids headed to daycare while I had a day to work at home.

I was able to get alot done:

- tidied our home

- enjoyed lunch at a local restaurant with Cory

- picked out some gorgeous flowers at the grocery store

- caught up on some office work

- visited Cory's jobsite

- wished a friend Happy Birthday

- came across a tire fire in a field

- made chicken, peas and mashed potatoes for family supper

Week In The Life: MONDAY

Trip to Regina with Ace to get his hearing checked. Left Oxbow at 8am and arrived back at 5pm, with lots of city shopping in between. It's our reality now to have to travel distances for medical appointments. It was great to spend the day with Ace, just the two of us!

Eye appointments for the kiddos today.

We will be heading back soon for another visit. They will be dilating Scarlett's eyes for more accurate testing. Sounds like she will be wearing glasses for a while to correct her eye that turns in.

Ace was his usual self during the exam...just had to push the limits and be goofy.

All & all they were both pretty well behaved for their Mama today. At one point, while we were out in public, someone asked me 'will they sleep on the way home?', implying they were busy-bodies and I probably looked like I needed a break. I replied 'no, they haven't slept during the day for years now. They're just very active, which I don't mind...better than them being inactive or unhealthy'. The woman just smiled and I smiled back...because I have this conversation in public more often than one would think. :)

One of my favorite rooms in our home is the MUD ROOM. Almost every inch is purpose-ful space. I love displaying old rubber boots on this antique shelf...I don't think I could ever part with a pair, they are just too cute and a great display for spring! On the opposite wall, each of our family members has a floor to ceiling cubby which has hooks to hang jackets, a bench to drop a school bag and a basket to catch all those misc items (just waiting for the cupboard doors to be hung to share more). We gave this room a little clean-up today and snapped a few pics while it was actually tidy...like 5 minutes.

The big reveal of Scarlett's dance recital costume was today...everything throughout the year was worth it for this moment. She absolutely loves it...especially the color purple (her fave). Can't wait for the performance!

Putting the finishing touches on this craft I'll be teaching tomorrow night at the Expressway Family Centre...just in time for Mother's Day!

Little Princess Book

Created this cute little book a while back and thought I would share.

Began our Sunday morning with a family breakfast...complete with pancakes & bacon.

Then Cory headed to the backyard to begin assembly of the new playset we ordered.

Ace snuck out to help build the climbing wall.

Lots of pieces...this could take a couple of days.
