Ace's Bug Party
We were crazy about bugs for the day to celebrate Ace's 5th birthday.
We started off the activities with a caterpiller craft made out of egg cartons, pipe cleaners & googlie eyes. Thank you to my dear friend Lian for helping me with this craft for the kids! Below is Trina helping out Scarlett.
Nicolas with his finished caterpiller
And Scarlett with hers
Then we headed outside for a bug hunt. The kids & I decorated bug catcher containers (found at the dollar store) with foam stickers for everyone to capture their bugs.

Here's Ace & Nicolas trying to 'net' a butterfly
Payton & Mercedes
Scarlett, she was really trying to find lady bugs
Mercedes filled her bug catcher up!
Check out Sadie's gigantic spider!
Our team of bug catchers. I was so impressed by how much the kids enjoyed catching bugs...kept them busy for about an hour. It was such a simple birthday activity.
Then we gave the kids each their own magnifying glasses (also from the dollar store). They had fun exploring their bugs as well as their friends' bugs!

That's our little bug catcher!!!
Treat bags made using this & this. Only took me 5 minutes to stuff, stamp & staple all 8 of them!

After our BBQ supper, the birthday boy choose his favorite bug cupcake, we sang him Happy Birthday and...
...he blew out his candles!
It was one of the most fun, yet simple, birthday parties I've ever planned for my kiddos.
Happy Birthday Ace!

ART Purchase
Today I went to Regina to purchase our first two pieces of art for our home. I have been a fan of Stacy Hollingers work for years and now that we're settled in to our house, it was time to choose. To make these beautiful pieces she uses an encaustic technique (heated bees wax)...this unique style of artwork it totally our style.

The piece above is three separate canvases, I think this will go in our dining room or main floor living room.

The piece below is for our main floor powder room. Can't wait to hang them!!!

It was an absolute pleasure to meet this artist in her home today. For more info, visit here or here.

Happy 5th Birthday Ace
Five years ago today, we became first-time parents. He's taught us alot and we've all come along way! Ace is our energetic, caring, little man who likes to play from sunrise, till sunset. Bugs, dinosaurs & Star Wars fills his days. He likes to tinker, cut (with scissors), draw & create. And he has a soft side that likes to curl up with a book & snuggle with hugs & kisses. It's hard to believe how these years have flown by...we have had so much fun watching you grow-up!

We enjoyed a fun-filled day and made sure we baked bug cupcakes together for school tomorrow.

Used my William Sonoma bug cupcake pan.
Vanilla & chocolate are what the birthday boy wanted. After the kids went to bed, my Mom came over and we iced them together (thanks Mom).

Snuggle Time
Tonight at bedtime, Ace was really wanting some snuggle time. With it being his last night as a 4-year-old, I caved (we love to snuggle our kids...I know, I know, some of you are cringing). I whispered in his ear 'I'll snuggle you as an early birthday present'...he loved that.

Stamp Set Organization
My stamp collection was in desperate need of categorization...I struggled for a long time to develop a system that works for me. I actually re-organized all of my cupboards in my studio since things just go put away anywhere & everywhere when we moved in. Now that I've had a chance to use the room, I know where things work best. I will have more photos of my studio soon, just waiting to get a few more furniture pieces to finish the room...stay tuned!

The Yard
In Cory's spare time, he has been hard at work leveling out the yard & prepping it for landscaping next year. He has spent many long hours in the bobcat and done a wonderful job! He also built a great looking front porch step. So the exterior is coming along pretty good, just waiting to do stonework, columns & railings.

Stella & Dot Launch Party
This was an exciting night! I invited everyone I talked to in the past couple of weeks to meet Stella & Dot...a fresh new jewelry line I am a stylist for. As the hostess of this party, I earned $613 in FREE jewelry (including my half priced items & free items from the percentage of sales)!!! There were 25 lovely guests who joined me and I earned $350 just hanging out with the ladies!!! I love this job! I am looking forward to booking more 'trunk' shows for hostesses who want free jewels.

Our new Look Book - amazing!
Wishlists for the ladies to fill out so I can contact that 'special someone' with great gift ideas.
Just a few of my faves: Natasha Necklace
Alana Cuff (I wear this almost every day!)
I'd love for you to support my new business! Please contact me if you'd like to book a party, shop online (and have items shipped directly to you) or become a stylist & go on a shopping spree!!!

Scarlett's First Day of Dance
Today was her first dance class (tap & ballet). Parents aren't able to watch during practice, so we really have no idea what they learn each day. It was cute when she showed us a few things from class, like toe tapping and arm positions. The teachers are very specific with their appearance: pink, navy or black bodysuit, ballet pink or beige tights & hair back in a bun/ponytail with bangs off the face...when all the students (there's about 20 of them) are lined up waiting for class to begin, they look so adorable. In the above photo, she's hiding her snack (apple) and I think she even has a chunk in her mouth :)

Ace's First Day of Kindergarten!!!
Givin' the two-thumbs-up for school
This day was probably harder on me than him.
Had to say 'bye' to Piper
Very exciting that he is going to Kindergarten in the same school & homeroom as I did!
Scarlett & I dropped him off, there weren't tears (I wanted to make this a positive experience, or he might resist going). He had a great day, and said when he got home 'we didn't just play all day Mommy, we actually had to do stuff'.
