Had a great weekend together, just the two of us! Checked another date night off our list, went furniture shopping, enjoyed a peaceful Starbucks together, roamed around the book store, sat in the hotel bar...stuff we don't get to do when we bring the kids to Minot. Huge thank you to my parents who looked after the kiddies overnight, we really appreciate it.
Picked up a couple of good reads while we were away. I have been dying to get my hands on a copy of The Pioneer Woman Cookbook....and it was so worth it! I read it all the way home and was inspired by her bio and the yummy eye-candy photographs. I flipped straight to the dessert section knowing it would be good...and it was, already planning to make her Chocolate Layer Cake this week. I have been an avid follower of her blog for years and to now have a bit of her in print on my cookbook shelf, well that's pretty rockin!
We headed to Minot for a kid-free night with our close friends. Had an amazing time! The hilight of our trip was dining together at 10 North Main restaurant...it gave me a taste of the city life I miss.
The atmosphere was trendy & upbeat...glad I wore my heels!
Our waitress gave us the info on the celeb owner Josh Duhamel...he apparently goes there often with wife Fergie and sits at the bar! Hoping for a sighting one of these trips.
We chatted the night away...Michelle & Lian

Oh and the food was great too...smoked salmon appetizer was delish!
Mmmm, crab cakes for this lady's dinner.
Trent had the duck.
Cory and his huge piece of meat!
Let's just say we enjoyed our experience there and will be back very soon.
Taught this quick & fun little craft to the children at the Expressway Family Centre this morning. I knew I had to have the milk carton die when I saw it in the Stampin' Up! Occasions Mini...so adorable and easy to make to fill with treats. Can't wait to try them on my Big Shot with patterned paper. Reminder: Sale-A-Bration ends March 31st and so does the Occasions Mini!
My new sidekick! I was so excited to purchase this new camera for my photography biz in January. There was a learning curve at first, but once I had it in my hands for two weeks, we became inseparable! I walked into the store fully confident I was going to purchase one model up from my Rebel, the 50D...but I got my hands on this 7D and it felt like butter. Cory was very helpful in the decision making, said 'get the higher end...you can handle it'. I was impressed by his confidence. Now I'm searching for the perfect camera strap for this bad boy...maybe something from here or here?
My niece has been taking part in synchronized skating this year, she skates with the team: Southeast Starlets. This past weekend they attended a competition in Manitoba and won GOLD! So proud of this bunch of local gals, way to go!
Kyra is in the centre, lookin' good girl.
This looked amazing! They were so good, it gave me chills!
Another favorite part of the show.
Hope they gather their team again next year, such a great group for younger girls to look up to!
I love when a new What's Cooking magazine arrives in the mail! I immediately flip thru, tagging all the recipes I'm going to try...such food inspiration. This dessert was a hit with the family and Cory's Grandpa who has been staying with us for the past 3 weeks...there was only 1 piece left...YUM!
Scarlett came home from Preschool today with this adorable craft! I snapped a pic of her and the latest masterpiece as soon as we got home, as I do with all artwork that comes home before it gets lost in the shuffle. We only keep artwork for a few weeks at a time around here, since we have so much of it, we could easily become bombarded. I just take the photo and we have a '4 x 6' memory of each masterpiece and the kids at that age...works well for us.
Last day of ice at our local rink, so we all decided to go skating as a family one last time before we hang up the skates till next season. I snapped a few photos of the kids all suited up, especially Ace, to remember his first year of hockey.
Scoring on your Dad...that's always fun!
Scarlett improved leaps & bounds this year on skates.
She even took a few strides by herself today, you can tell she is anxious to keep-up with the boys!
Being chased by your Dad on skates...priceless?
Ace has become a good little skater this year all because of hockey...way to go buddy.
As much as I was adamant at first to try the whole hockey lifestyle, I can honestly say I will miss our time at the rink, it was a great experience and Ace had FUN...until next year!
We had the pleasure of having our nephew Kelby stay with us this weekend while his family went to Manitoba for a synchronized skating competition his sister Kyra was performing in. The kids had fun playing together, watching movies & slept in bunkbeds. Here's Kelby & Scarlett enjoying root-beer-floats...a little treat for cleaning up the toys so well.
