Visit from Nana
We love our evening visits from Nana!  She comes over between dinner & bedtime to check in and say 'HI'.  Tonight we were all having hot chocolate as a treat.

Ace's First Piano Recital

Ace has been taking Music for Young Children in the Sunshine 1 level since September.  Tonight was his New Years recital (held in the basement of the United Church) & we were so proud of him when he got up in front of the audience to play a song he choose.  I attend lessons each week with Ace, as parental assistance is required in these pre-school level classes.  It is so great so see Ace progress from week to week and the program has a very well-created teaching process.  And Mrs. Mitchell is a wonderful teacher with alot of patience.
Then his class played 'The Farmer in the Dell' using other instruments.
It was an entertaining evening!  PS: We're looking to purchase a piano if anyone knows of one for sale.

Cold Van
Our van wouldn't start this morning, so we had to call for a rescue from Cory to get our day started.  Once the battery in the van was charged up and it started again, I took it to the new house to enjoy some time in the garage...a little treat for our van.

Birthday Girls
Our new neighbour Arlie (the kids call her Mrs. Neff) shares the same birthdate as Scarlett...what a coincidence. We had an impromptu dinner together with our families to celebrate these gals.  Mrs. Neff told Scarlett that next year they'd have to bake a cake together on their birthdays...so sweet!

Birthday Girl Scarlett
It's her party for her 3rd birthday today.  She was so excited for a day all about her!

We celebrated Scarlett's 3rd Birthday with a

Can't have a party without cupcakes!

It was so much fun!  We served fruit (Scarlett's favorite), Hello Kitty waffles (which Daddy made) with all the fixings and pink lemonade.  It was very girlie and all about our big three year old!

Snowmobiling
We borrowed Papas ski-doo for the afternoon, it was the first time the kids had been for a ride on one.  They loved it!  It was fun to spend some time doing this sport with our family that I enjoyed so much as a kid with my parents & siblings.

Paint Mode
It's coming down to crunch time, we have to have all our paint color choices completed for the house by Monday.  These are the choices for main colors of the house, two for dark, two for light.  I have done paint swatches like these in all the rooms to verify & choose colors.

Let me know what your color vote is?

Visit to Luxury Granite

During my trip to Regina, I stopped in for a tour of Luxury Granite, our kitchen countertop supplier.  They were kind enough to show me around.  I toured their outdoor warehouse and took a peek at the granite slabs.
Then I toured their shop where they were in the process of cutting somebody's countertop.  I got to see how they polish the edges & cut the sink holes also.  Thanks to Dean & Robb for the tour!

Little Church
I always drive by this beautiful church on the way to Regina and say to myself, I should take a photo of that.  Well, today on my trip into the city, I finally stopped and snapped a couple of shots...so glad I did!

Granite is a 'GO'

I'm excited to say that I have finally narrowed down our granite selection for our kitchen countertops.  The color is 'Gold Leaf', you can see it here.  We have 119 sq/ft of countertop in our kitchen, so I had to be absolutely certain about this decision.  We rewarded the granite contract to Luxury Granite out of Regina, they have been excellent to work with and will be coming down to do a rough measure next weekend.

New Neighbours
We were invited for a delicious supper by our future neighbours, Drew & Trina Hitchens.  We are so excited to eventually move in beside them, they are great...and the kids can't get enough of them.
Ace enjoyed playing blocks.  He's sitting beside Trina's Dad, Rich.  Rich has been the one who has been helping us out with the construction of our house since we began.
Trina reading a book to Scarlett

Trina made this yummy dessert, Oreo cake, the kids especially loved it!
Thanks for supper guys, we can't wait to return the favor.

Goodies from Bliss

My friend Kim came for a visit to Oxbow and was nice enough to deliver some products I had on hold at my favorite scrapbook store in Calgary, Scrapbookers Bliss.  I have been trying to track down this awesome paper from October Afternoon for months.  Bliss came through for me with the Weathervane line, shown above and the Nightlight line, shown below.
I also received the new Bittersweet collection from Basic Grey, Hello Kitty cricut cartridge (for Scarlett's birthday party) and the Paper Crafts Gourmet book.  To top it all off, Bliss threw in a pack of papers (totally my style) & vintage bingo cards...thank you so much for being so thoughtful!  And thank you Kim for delivering my goodies!

Wine Club
Tonight was my first wine club rendezvous with my girlfriends: Trinette, Jocelyn, Kendra, me, Michelle & Christy.
The wine of the night was Cabernet Sauvignon and Michelle was a gracious host.  We decided on our club name: 'Little Penguins'.  And our motto: 'Life is too short not to enjoy great wine'.  Looking forward to many more months with these gals learning all about wine.

Organizing
The kids' room was in major need of some purging & organizing.  So since I'm off work & spending my days at home, I tackled the task.  Ace & Scarlett have been living out of these rubbermaid drawer stands since we moved, we really had to trim down their wardrobes since we were limited in space.  The kids & I labeled the drawers so that they can start to learn some words and where their articles of clothing go.

Bath Night
Every second night is bath night for the kids in our house.  This is what Scarlett & Ace do every time they hop out of the tub: wrap themselves in their hooded towels (Hello Kitty & Cars), make a quick dash for Mom & Dad's room, curl up on the bed to get warm & dry off.  That is usually followed by dancing around on the bed & having to coax them into getting their PJs on.

Happy 85th Birthday Grandpa

Mom & Dad treated us all to a New Years Day supper to celebrate Grandpa Krieger's 85th Birthday.  Happy Birthday Grandpa!

Project 365: 1.1

Welcome to PROJECT 365
With the inspiration from this friend and this new kit from CK, I'm taking on the 'Project 365' challenge...to document the life of our family with a photo a day. This isn't necessarily a blog challenge for me (as we don't have internet) but a new approach to scrapbooking which I've been really enjoying lately as I take a break from card making. I'm pumped to try this new approach to scrapbooking and believe it will be more meaningful & easy to keep up.

This photo is of our new 2009 calendar from Lang. It displays such fun & colorful images and makes me smile. Our family calendar is the place to mark down everything that is coming up or that happens in our lives. It's a great way to start off this fresh & new year...Happy New Year everyone!

I thought I'd also share our 'one little word' for the 2009 year: HOME! Since we're going to be making our new house a home, I thought it was appropriate. It's so wonderful to be putting down roots in such a great community and making our home in Oxbow!
